So i drove down to Cleveland for the weekend. On the way down i helped dave sort out his hosting problems with Cleetus, getting him migrated to Moose Hosting. I pulled over on the Ohio Turnpike and created a Virtual Host on my laptop with my cell phone cable in the car. Power geek, baby!

Had some drinks with jason and chris skaryd, and some of chris' wife's friends. Got drunk. THOUGHT i got into some trouble, so i left. Turns out it had very little to do with me but i just assumed i was the cause.

Spent some time with the fam, ate some home cooked food. Went out with Ruthie for coffee and talked about how weird it is to be growing up so quickly in recent months. She's engaged for fuck's sake. Crazy.

Went out for a couple drinks with my dad and we talked about Wise, retirement, home ownership and a bunch of other random stuff. We agreed on most of it besides home ownership, but i think he really assumes Wise is going to move me someplace so he doesn't think i should be tied to a home. PSH. In my current reading i wanna be tied to like 6 homes if i can help it, cuz then i don't have to worry about working

Aaron just walked into class and asked if anyone was observing Lent, because they would have ordered them special lunch. Heh, i didn't even know it was Lent go go gadget christian education, eh?

Now back to the Wise Install System class already in progress

so i had a mellow day today in cleveland. Snowed like crazy all day and all night. Miserable outside. Went out late with Joe who is here from SF for training with Phillips' medical devision. Drove out to pick him up in MISERABLE driving conditions, and almost got blown off the road a couple times. Picked joe up, drove all over beachwood looking for a bar. then we spent even longer driving around looking for an OPEN bar. finally found some pub and had a couple drinks talking about how weird it is to have "big boy" jobs now. His gig with Phillips sounds pretty rad. He's doing regional engineer stuff for Xray equipment. paid vehicle, expenses, etc. Makes me kinda jealous that he's more regional to the Bay than national like me. Sheesh, don't even have the job yet and i'm already complaining. go me

Joe convinced me i need some sort of palm device. Talking with mary it seems like i may want one of those pda/phone things i've always despised, but finally have a use/need for. joe's like CE device was pretty sweet. And i think i need a new laptop bag. Joe's "record" bag will hold his xbox, laptop, and all the trimmings for both. i imagine it's heavy as hell, but that's the kinda bag i want.

Now off to sleep

so the chang xmas party wasn't quite what i envisioned, but everyone else also commented on how subdued it was this year. I had fun regardless.

I got the tap all situated, and the keg showed up right on time thanks to Kendra. Dinner was amazing thanks to Jac. The xmas presents / door prizes were kinda weak, but whatever. The afterparty was awesome thanks to Terrell opening his home to all of us. God i love terrell's warehouse.

The keg was dry by 1230, so rory and i made a frantic run to maverick. watching him run at top speed across the empty intersection was well worth the drive. We got back just in time to see all the managers walk in... so i handed them all a beer.

I smoked enough last nite to shave years off my life, but i did manage to smoke with a LOT of people. It was nice.

I love the people i work with. they rule.

So Lissa got Crystal and I invites to the exclusive Ichiban halloween party. Ichiban is a sushi restaurant in SLC, and every year they do an all you can eat, all you can drink, invite only costume party. I expected about what you did when you read that: utopia.

I went as a motoGP racer, Crystal went as my umbrella girl. Bonnie and Pat went as Dorothy and the tin man, Lissa and mitch went as Katsup and Mustard bottles.

We got there and it was way crowded. We ate and got a drink, then a shot. the food was amazing, and the crowd was a lot of fun. I ran into Jerry and Brett from Club 6 at the bar. They ran out of hard alcohol pretty quick, and the beer disappeared shortly after that. They broke into the Kirin and Sapporo from the bar stock and went thru that pretty quickly as well.

Crystal got really, really, really drunk... so we went for air. We came in and danced with Bonnie, Lissa and everyone. The dance floor was covered in alcohol, so everyone fell down a lot.

Crystal decided she REALLY needed some air, so we went outside and hung out behind ichiban waiting for her to lose her dinner. I went inside to get Bonnie's keys when i found out that Pat fell on the dancefloor and was now covered in blood. I ran to the car with Bonnie yelling "the tin man's been hurt! the tin man's hurt!!!". Watching Dorothy do that is some funny ass shit, let me tell you.

I got the car, got the tinman in the car (turns out it was only a scratch on his ear, nothing to get excited about), got bonnie in the car, put crystal in the car and we were just about ready for home (ahem, 10:30pm) when crystal decided she needed air. the rear window was still rolling down when she started puking out of it. Mad respect points, tho, she totally missed the car's interior.

We got home and got crystal a trashcan, which she used for about the next 2 hours... on the couch, in the bathroom, and in the bedroom.

We woke up this morning to a slamming door around 8am. Turns out pat was so drunk he pissed bonnie's bed. She was less than thrilled. Bonnie, Crystal and i made breakfast as they both tried to piece together their evenings and cure their hangovers.

I'm not really sure if i'm happy i stayed sorta sober, or if i would have rather been as bombed as everyone else. On the plus side, it would have sucked to take a cab home with all those drunk nuts bleeding and vomiting

so i had to close last nite. saturday night closing and it was pretty crazy all night. Take-out made over $100, and i ran around a lot. around 10:15, the power on the entire block goes out. Squatters, RedRock, Metro, Buca's and pretty much every restaurant downtown went out all at once.

Chad and Pete comp'd a ton of food, and we pretty much did all our sidework in the dark. when the lights came back on, we stayed closed. it was pretty laid back for as crazy as it is to have a restaurant FULL of people sitting at tables lit only by the votive candles.

I was off by 11pm and so we went to go meet Julie and some of her friends. We had a most excelent time. Crystal and i ended up realy drunk and consequently hung over this morning. I came home to find Brad and Jem here. He's been asleep all day. Guess they took the "scenic" route thru montana.

I spent the rest of the day cleaning the server room and orginizing piles of clothes to wash since we finally have a damn dryer again

now off to the chang to rock some take out. yay.

So chris has been here the last couple days. We had a damn good time riding @ PCMR. Got his website going and vegged in the hottub tonite.

Went out with Brooke, Anna, Golnush and the rest of the crew the other nite.... to the Drink on Pierpont Ave. Had a damn great time. Wish it happened more often.

Still no word on a job. Another call to the Chang today, supposed to call tomorrow. sigh why is this so hard? it's a fucking grunt job. I seem to have to interviews inversely proportional to the quality of the job. Win2k rollout in SF, phone interview for 10 min. Grunt job @ qwest or PF Chang's, multiple interviews, bullshit, hoops to jump thru.
